11. COLOR!! Although color in film had been in the works for decades before, Technicolor put its mark on the film industry in 1932 with the release of its 3 strip color system. After two initial failures from the company, the 3 strip color system was an expensive process that required number of Technicolor specialists. It wasn’t until 1939 with films such as The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind that Technicolor truly soared as a company and an innovation.
