Chesapeake Bay Grasses [chesapeakebay.net], designed by Stamen Design is an interactive map that tracks a quite exotic subject: the changes of the underwater grasses at Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the United States. Accordingly, the map reveals how the fluctuations in water temperature, salinity and turbidity correlate to grass abundance, as dominant species ebb and flow and grass beds shrink and expand over a period of 30 years.
Map Stack- - - is a project by Stamen Design. Most of the data used to create this site comes from the Open Street Map community, and some of it comes from our friends at Map Box, Natural Earth, and our own maps.stamen.com.For now, we’re keeping the service up and running from 11am to 5pm PST, Monday to Friday. Depending on demand and feedback, we may keep it running for longer hours, add the ability to let people make interactive maps or otherwise change the service.
