"A falcon, towering in her pride of place, Was by a mousing owl hawk’d at and kill’d." Birds play a very symbolic role in Macbeth, and in this case the falcon represents Duncan and the owl represents Macbeth. This quote shows how the falcon was killed in her "pride of place", meaning in a place it felt comfortable and safe, but was killed by a mousing owl. This is parallel to what happened when Macbeth killed Duncan. Shakespeare uses a lot of nature imagery to enhance the plot of the play.
