This evening dress with a black velvet bodice piped in red and a full skirt of green, black and red silk in a plaid Scottish design is by Catherine Walker. Diana first wore it to an event at Balmoral for an evening of Scottish dancing. She also wore it to the National Gallery in Scotland in 1990. Designed by Catherine Walker, this white silk-crepe sheath dress and matching high-collared jacket is embroidered all over with simulated pearls and white sequins. Diana debuted the gown at The British Fashion Awards on October 17, 1989. She wore it again on November 8, 1989 to the opening of the Hong Kong Cultural Center. The princess also wore it without the jacket on May 7, 1990 on a state visit to Hungary. This gown is lot #78 and it raised $ 151,000 for Diana's charities.
