Symptoms initiate in lower extremities w/ symmetrical parathesia that may advance to paralysis. Pt presents w/weakness, fatigue, & ataxia. Commonly involves dysphagia, respiratory distress, & bowel/bladder dysfunction. Nursing Priority: patent airway!
