The wild ponies of Cumberland Island, Georgia. So much of the Island's allure comes from its unspoiled, wild spirit, with pristine white sand beaches fronting the Atlantic Ocean and the dense salt marshes buffering it from the mainland. There are no full time human residents, let along phone lines or roads to speak of but for a lovely day trip, it's worth it to escape to these ponies' hideaway.
California has such a wide variety of landscapes. In addition to the coastal views, you can find sprawling redwood forests that are taller than you could ever imagine. Photo by Justin Brown - Muir Woods is like a big terrarium, so beautiful!
