One of the most feared of all London's street gangs in the late was a group of female toughs known as the Clockwork Oranges. They would later inspire Anthony Burgess' most notorious novel. >> Whoa - a gang of female toughs.

Susi was born in 1909 as Charlotte in the western district of Berlin.  She had ichthyosis that manifested aggressively and her skin quickly thickened, turned grey, and cracked.  It looked similar to that of an elephants.  Susi first came to the United States in 1927 as part of a troupe consisting of a giantess and a bearded lady.   Susi passed away in 1975 at the age of 66.

Adam Rainer (1899-1950) is the only person in history to have been both a dwarf and a giant. At age 21, he was 3'10''. Then, likely as a result of a pituitary tumor, he had a dramatic growth spurt so that he grew to 7'8''. He became weakened by this doubling of his height and was bedridden the last 20 years of his life.

Adam Rainer March of Austria, is the only person in recorded history ever to have been both a dwarf and a giant.

Bass "The Ossified Man" cabinet card (1890)    I'm no medical expert, but here's a little something I saw when I went to the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia:     Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva: An extremely rare disease where a mutation of the body's repair mechanism causes soft tissues and tendons in the body to turn to bone. Injuries and surgeries have been shown to heal back with more bone tissue.    The most famous case of this is that of Harry Raymond Eastlack.
