This parlor chair, once owned by Josefita Manderfield, came to Santa Fe from Durango, Mexico, by ox cart. Made of mahogany-stained hardwood, its back two pieces are a highly carved “Belter type.” This is among the many items in the New Mexico History Museum’s Manderfield Territorial Collection, which contains items dating back to the early 1800s.
