Michio Hoshino, a photographer known for his pictures of bears and other wildlife, was mauled to death by a brown bear on the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia. He was in his and lived in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is the last photo he took.
A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail - Bill Bryson - Not always an easy read, but I enjoyed it. Bryson was willing to say, "We have hiked the AT," knowing that his 870 miles is an accomplishment. Gave me a flavor of the AT.
