Suffragette, Emily Davision throws herself in front of King George V’s horse at the Epsom Derby of 1913. This horrifying spectacle attracted even more national attention to the Suffraggete movement and growing call for equal rights of women. Her injuries resulted in her death four days later thus becoming a martyr for the cause of Womens Suffrage. Some have suggested that she had not originally attempted suicide but simply to disrupt the race.
