Humayan's son Akbar succeeded to the throne and immediately had to face pressure from Mughal enemies. Akbar and his advisors defeated them, and the young monarch became a ruler with outstanding military and administrative talent.

Mirza Abu Zafar Sirajuddin Muhammad Bahadur Shah Zafar (1775 – 1862), was the last Mughal emperor & a member of the Timurid Dynasty. Zafar was the son of Mirza Akbar Shah II & Lalbai, who was a Hindu Rajput, & became Mughal Emperor when his father died in 1837. He used Zafar, a part of his name, meaning “victory”, for his nom de plume (takhallus) as an Urdu poet, & he wrote many Urdu ghazals under it.
