Andy Warhol by Richard Avedon 1987. Here Warhol shows off the scars from when he was shot in 1968; six organs were pierced by bullets. The fabric pushed down around his waist is a surgical corset, which he had to wear the rest of his life. The woman who shot him only served three years.
A Titanic survivor was told he needed to get his legs amputated. 2 years later he won a US tennis championship!
*R. Norris Williams - survived the sinking of the Titanic but was told to have his legs amputated due to severe frostbite. Refused the doctor's advise and two years later, in 1914, won the men's singles title in the U.S. Championships.
This caterpillar is called Tinolius eburneigutta. I've only seen one other caterpillar with tassles like this one, and that was on a "paddle caterpillar" in Illinois, the juvenile version of the funerary dagger moth. Tinolius eburneigutta is also a moth, but although it's referred to as a "semi-looper" because of the way it walks, it isn't really a member of the Geometridae family of "looper" moths.
