"According to the greek mythology, Argos was a giant with a hundred eyes. He was Hera's servant. Hera's defining task for Argos was to guard the white heifer Io, one of the many nymphs Zeus was coupling with, keeping her chained to the sacred olive tree at the Argive Heraion. To free Io, Zeus had Argus slain by Hermes. In memory of Argos, Hera placed his hundred eyes on the tail of her sacred bird, the peacock."
