Designated  the Chimney Rock National Historic Site, Bayard in Morrill County, NE, Located approximately 4mi south of present-day Bayard in Millard County, at the south edge of the  North Platte River Valley, is a natural geologic formation, rises 325' from a conical base, composed  of layers of volcanic ash & brule clay dating back to the Oligocene Age (34million-23 million years ago), towers 480' above the North Platte River  Valley.
