Vitis vinifera 'Brandt' is a lovely vine for a sunny position. The bunches of grapes start the season green, turning black in autumn and, although sweetish, are not good as a table grape but suitable for wine making.
11. Sarah Bernhardt. Diploid; pollen, no seeds. Another Zehrs bargain, but I think it is correct. Plants have gotten huge fast! Stems are strong but flowers are so huge it still will need staking. Lemoine, 1906.
Wisteria sinensis makes a huge beautiful statement with vast quantities of very pretty lilac/lavender pea flowers in long pendant racemes in May and June. The dark green pinnate leaves follow and there is often a small second flush in late summer.
Lonicera x heckrottii 'Goldflame' is a lovely climbing honeysuckle with excellent orange/yellow tubular flowers held in whorls over blue/green foliage. It is heavily scented, strong and fast growing but needs support.
Hydrangea 'seemannii' is a lovely evergreen climbing hydrangea from Mexico, introduced to the UK in the 1980s'. It has very attractive lance-shaped serrated leaves and beautiful lacecap white flowers from June until September.
