A late Medieval Knightly sword from the end of the Hundred Years' War, circa 1450. In excavated condition, with short blade sharply tapering from a broad base, of flattened diamond section and struck with a mark on both sides at the forte, faceted crosspiece tapering from a broad centre and the tips abruptly downturned, large wheel pommel with recessed centre, facetted tang button, and later grip . India/ Afghanistan pulwar sword, 17th to 18th century, a tulwar variant, they always display a short guard, curved in the direction of the blade, and a hemispheric pommel without a counter guard. Watered steel blade, slightly wave double edged, cartouche near the hilt, steel hilt with a spherical pommel covered in an engraved web motif and geometrical patterns. swan head on the pommel, also engraved.
