Large Figural Assuit Shawl 1920's. This glorious shawl is framed by a border of stylized papyrus and lotus flowers inside of which is second geometric border. Each half of the shawl has two large (approx. 2 feet tall) figures of Egyptian gods facing each other, they are possibly the Egyptian gods Amon, Anubis, and Sobek. Between the figures are cartouches containing hieroglyphs and figures of cats, falcons, and other symbols. Hovering above all of these images are winged figures.
