Andrea Camilleri (Porto Empedocle,1925), is the author of many books, including his Montalbano series, which has been adapted for Italian television and translated into 9 languages. He was born at Porto Empedocle, near Agrigento. His style is very particular as he mixes Italian and local dialect without making it unreadable for those not from that part of Italy. Camilleri has won literary awards in Italy and France. He is married with 3 children and 4 grandchildren, and lives in Rome.
