Scientists attached tiny electronic tags to Sooty Shearwaters, then tracked the birds' annual oceanic movements. The shearwaters flew enormous, migratory figure-eights from Antarctic waters to the coastal currents off California, Alaska, and Japan - and then returned south. The yearly migration of Sooty Shearwaters covers 39,000 miles, equal to 1.5 times around the earth. Learn more at PNAS.org.
Clogged glue bottles - a real frustration when you have a group of 25 kids waiting for the glue! Remove tops and put into a bowl with 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Work oil into lids, rinse and put back on bottles of glue. The oil keeps the glue from clogging the lids. Haven't tried it yet but have 50 bottles of glue I will attack first thing after the holiday break.
