English-born Diana McLellan made her bones as a Washington reporter, feature writer, magazine journalist, columnist, critic and editor. (Penney-Missouri Award, Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild Front Page Awards for humor; Pulitzer nominee.)  She considers herself a slacker, but occasionally writes a book review. (Washington Post, Wall Street Journal.) She is married to historian Richard X. McLellan. In the Summer of 2012 Diane released a book of poetry, 'Making Hay.'

Jazz Diplomacy American University’s Initiative for Russian Culture, along with the Brubeck Institute and the Open World Leadership Center, hosted a fabulous and unique evening focused on jazz diplomacy between Russia and the U.S.  Originally slated to take place at the Library of Congress, the event was moved at the last minute to the National Building Museum as another casualty of the government shut down.
