As part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' recovery mission, more than 26 million cubic yards of sand is being placed along the coast throughout the northeastern United States to repair and restore coastal storm risk reduction projects previously built by the Corps that were severely impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Here, the Philadelphia District pumped 667,000 cubic yards of sand onto the beach at Brigantine, NJ. Work was completed on this site in February 2013.
