Gym fashion....circa 1896.

Gym suit, USA, The Museum at FIT. Women of the late nineteenth century often wore garments with full “bloomer” trousers for gym exercise or calisthenics, which was part of the curriculum at many women’s educational institutions.

Turkish trousers also known as Bloomer, named after Amelia Bloomer who didn't originate the style but was recognized for it. They had full legs that were gathered to fit tightly at the ankle.

Bloomer costume: Turkish bloomers are what were worn under dresses by some girls. They were shunned for their name. Along with this was a shorter torso. Women were starting to get less restrictive dress.
