The flag is 200 years old. After the Battle of Ft. McHenry, the flag was raised over the fort to announce the American victory over the British. ♢ Francis Scott Key had been watching the violent battle nervously. When he saw the huge flag over the fort, he was inspired to write a song with the lyrics "O say can you see, by the dawn’s early light..." ♢ The flag was larger than the flag maker's house so she had to take it across the street to a brewery in order to finish it.
