"Sitting Bull, killed by his own pistol". As Bull Head went down after being shot, he fired into Sitting Bull's side. Red Tomahawk was directly behind the group and carried a small revolver that he had taken from the Chief. With this revolver he shot Sitting Bull in the head. "The relatives of the policemen killed during the failed arrest attempt had beaten Sitting Bull's body virtually unrecognizable." (Sitting Bull - His Life and Legacy, 2009).
