Gall (1840-1895) - Sitting Bull's adopted brother. Gall was a giant of a man who was respected by Indians and whites. He was a significant leader at the Battle of the Greasy Grass (Little Bighorn). Later in life he split from Sitting Bull and encouraged his followers to take up reservation life.
Spotted Tail was born about 1823 in the White River country west of the Missouri River in present-day South Dakota The young man took his warrior name, Spotted Tail, after receiving a gift of a raccoon tail from a white trapper; he sometimes wore a raccoon tail in his war headdress
