A Venetian Neoclassical lava cameo brooch, mounted in gold, 1840-1849. The cameo depicting a woman resembling the 1st century BC Roman Empress Antonia Minor, seated on a "klismos," (a chair with splayed legs).
Classically the designs carved onto cameo stones were either scenes of Greek or Roman mythology or portraits of rulers or important dignitaries. Description from pinterest.com. I searched for this on bing.com/images
