The Curzon was a suburban cinema situated in Kotze Street , Hillbrow, Johannesburg. It had a seating capacity of 800 contained in a 'stadium-type' floor plan. The Curzon was closed in 1965 and completely refurbished as the Fine Arts Cinema.
Johannesburg Hillbrow cinemas. It had full 70mm projection and drop-dead sound system. It opened with The Sound of Music, which ran for 69 weeks, a record that has never been broken. One old lady, who went to see every show (5 a day for 3 days), was given a free pass till the end of the run. The cinema seated 760.
