Design your garden with the idea of bringing in Fresh Cut Flowers into your home! Lots of beautiful flowers

National Garden Bureau/Gardening for All
t's the time of year when the dahlias are in full glory! Be sure to bring some in to enjoy! It's recommended to cut the dahlia stems in the morning when the flower is well hydrated and not stressed from the day. To make sure the blossoms are still young and fresh, turn the flower over and check the petals on the back. If they are limp or soft, you have only about 24 hours before they start dropping. These beautiful dahlias are Sincerity from NGB member Syngenta Flowers North America

As an exotic tropical plant, Ant-Plants make for the most unique indoor houseplant! The ant-plant, in its native environment, is home to ants who live its bulbous trunk. It’s hollow chambers allow ants to colonize in it. This relationship is mutually beneficial: the ants get a safe home, the ant-plant has the ants to attack pests. For your own houseplant use, don’t worry about the ants! Ant-Plants are unique houseplants for the avid #indoorplantparent. Deadheading your dahlias is very important for getting more blooms this season. With Dahlias, you want to cut back the whole stem rather than just nipping off the flower heads. This will encourage the plant to produce more buds with longer stems. Removing spent flowers also discourages earwigs, which are attracted to decaying plant matter. Dahlias flower best when nights are cool, so treat them well now and they should continue bloom through September. Zinnia Queeny Lime Orange | All-America Selections

Zinnias are a must in my garden, but I have to admit I wasn't completely sold on this variety due to its more subdued coloring. Happy to report that they've won me over, BIG TIME. They're tough, withstand high winds and are prolific. Zone 5b

"Very compact and colorful." said one reviewer. "I have heavy deer pressure, and the deer aren’t touching these. No mildew either. This is excellent cultivar." Save The Bees, Plant Needs, Zinnias, Flower Seeds, Green Plants, Cut Flowers, Flower Photos, Container Gardening, Perennials
