Circa 1858-1860 Day dress, North American. Green is ribbed weave pressed into watered pattern and black is lush satin weave. Most of the fullness of 8 panels is in very small gathers at center back. Some fullness is tucked into knife pleats on sides, leaving little to gather in front, which falls closer to body. White cotton under sleeves and collar detach for cleaning.
