Walking around in Eden Safari Country House's garden

I am the largest bird in the world, I can grow up to 2.7m high. My Family and I are proudly the birds who lay the largest eggs in the world. Our eggs are so strong that even a human can stand on top of them and they will not break. Our eggs are also famous for holding up to 1.25 liters of water, and can be used to keep water cool in the ground. No wonder that hunter-gatherers use our eggs to store water in for future use. I'm a Rhino and I'm here to tell you my story... Rhino's are the second largest land mammal in the world. We're one of the few animals that date from prehistoric times, we owe this to the fact that we are highly adaptable. Because a Rhino needs to drink regularly we tend to stay in close proximity to bodies of water. We can only survive without water for about 5 days. Rhinos consume large amounts of water to keep hydrated and to cool our bodies.

I'm the largest land animal, as an Elephant bull I'm a lot bigger than the females of my kind. I weighing up to 7000kg and reaching 4m shoulder length. With my large trunk I can smell water from kilometers away. Where there seems to be no water in sight, we have the ability to find this precious resource hidden under the sand by digging with our trunks. By creating new waterholes we not only saves ourselves from thirst but we leave a small waterhole behind for other animals to drink from. What is MY story: I am a Hippo. My name hippopotamus comes from the Greek word water horse. We Hippos are water loving animals and we need to stay moist otherwise our skins become dry and crack. We can only survive where there is abundant water so living near rivers and lakes is where we can be found. Our days consists of spending up to 16 hours per day in water, this keeps us cool. Sad but true hippos move quickly through water but can not swim, we push ourselves upward and forward from… Greek Words, Hippopotamus, Wild Life, Rivers, Lakes, Christmas Bulbs, Elephant, Sad, Horse
