Proprioception activities such as heavy work have been shown to improve attention and concentration, improve body awareness, and regulate arousal levels. Heavy work can be calming for students with autism or sensory regulation difficulties.
(Sense of touch) put different objects in balloons and have the children guess what each one is. Then, open them up to see what it is. (Tie with elastics so it is easier to open.) To further the lesson, make a chart of prediction and result.
"It senses activity kids. I do a 'feely' activity when learning the 'how we do science,' this idea organizes those 'touchy' things. I would leave the description off because I want my students to use their own words to describe the feel.
