Cracow is the most popular Polish city among foreign tourists. The towers of St Mary's Basilica, Cloth Hall and Wawel Hill are symbols of Poland indeed. It was the capital of the country in the past and the Royal Castle on Wawel Hill is the best known residence of Polish kings. For that reason, Cracow is often called:

Warsaw's Royal Castle suffered extensive damage during WWII, but today, its reconstructed red brick facade is the main feature of Castle Square. A residence of the kings of Poland, it is integral to the history of the city. The towers on the royal castle are a significant feature of the otherwise somewhat plain facade. The middle tower is named after Zygmunt, a Polish king who transferred the capital of Poland from Krakow to Warsaw.
