Zoar (‘refuge’, ‘haven’) village and mission station 21km E of Ladismith, Western Cape. Founded by South African Missionary Society on Elandsfontein farm (1817), named after Zoar by the Red Sea. Very old photo taken with very old camera. Please excuse bad quality.
Home in Karatara, South Africa; there are about 50 similar homes here which were once laborers' houses on a large farm. It's a ghost town w/about 200 residents. People sit on their front porches and watch the world go by in this super-quiet village. Photo by Heather Bisson
