It had probably been concealed during a time of crisis, such as an invasion by Germanic tribes in the late third century. See the bust and learn about the ancient city in which it was found when you book a reservation at the Getty Villa Museum (link in bio!). 🌟 The Gold Emperor from Aventicum is on view through Jan. 29, 2024. 👤 Bust of Marcus Aurelius, A.D. 161–180, Unknown, Roman.
