An Ode To The Braai

Here in South Africa this is what we do when we socialise. We would find ány excuse to have a braai! We even build shrines for it at our house - the 'braairoom'. And 'braai-ing' does not mean with charcoal, but réal wood and mainly not in a Weber, but as rustic as it can get: in a proper braai.

How to build an outdoor fire pit. I love everything about this rustic scene. The wood stools, the cushions, I need a backyard to try this again. I never had the firepit, but I done the stump stools :)

rosemary coals-instead of making a marinade, place the herbs right on the coals.  the smoke enhances the food the same way wood chips do.

If you're camping...Rub petroleum jelly over a bunch of cotton balls...then store in ziplock bag..Then when your ready to make a fire pull a few cotton strands out then place under your wood then light your cotton ball..instant fire starter ----- Good to know for fire pits too! :)
