The sale of jewelry from the Bourbon Parma family in Geneva, 2018, was led by ten pieces owned by Queen Marie Antoinette. The star of the evening was the Queen's 18th C pearl & diamond pendant, which sold for $37M USD – achieving a new record for a natural pearl. The pendant is believed to have been amongst the jewels that were packed up under cover of night in 1791 as the King & Queen prepared to escape from the besieged Palace of the Tuileries, & the armed revolutionaries surrounding them.
