Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn, is a widely popular bestseller and has been adapted into an acclaimed movie.  My feelings are mixed, it's sharp and intelligent but becomes way too aware of its own cleverness, maybe a bit self-indulgent.  And even though I just couldn't invest myself in any of the characters the story was compelling and the writing style snappy and addictive.  Recommended.
