Located on the west coast, GAMBIA is the smallest country on mainland Africa. It is comprised of Saint Mary's Island and a narrow strip of land never more than 30 mi wide. It borders both banks of the Gambia River for 200 mi. The river flows into the Atlantic and is Gambia's main transport artery. About 75% of the population is engaged in crop production and livestock raising with peanuts, also known as groundnuts, being one of the country's principal agricultural exports....photo © Michael....
