Kindergarten Sub Plans in a Snap- Kindergarten Emergency Sub Plans
As a teacher, planning for a sub on a day off can be such a chore and added stress! I used to dread looking for resources for the entire day while I was out. To make this task easier for myself, I created nursery rhyme themed emergency sub plans that are great for a sub tub. Children love the rhyme and repetition of nursery rhymes and they are great for teaching many skills. I was able to create a resource to cover all content areas that can be used while you are out. What to Put On a Focus Wall in Kindergarten
Do you have a Focus Wall in your classroom? Do you know what a Focus Wall is? I used to think that nearly every primary teacher had one up in the classroom, because it just a basic teaching tool. Here’s a fun, easy way to introduce your preschooler to the science of magnets. I took one of our sensory boxes, this one is filled with quinoa grains, but you can use rice, small dry pasta, sand, salt, whatever you have on hand or find on sale. I hid a bunch of objects in the grains, some sticking out, some completely burried. (paper clips, small refrigerator magnets, a clothespin, erasers, rubber bands, etc.). I gave my preschooler a magnet wand to wave over and dig under the grains. As he…
Magnets in the Science Center
Our science center is stocked with lots of cool magnets and magnetic objects. We started with a basic magnetic/non magnetic sort, and have slowly added more interesting items for the students to explore. This is a pencil with round magnets on it, stacked so that they will repel each other. The preschoolers love to take them off, and put them back on again to see if they will attract or repel. On another day, I added a tub of paper clips and a magnet wand taped so that it would hang off the…
