Not only is it Valentine's Day today, but also the birthday of a significant man to the Londolozi Family. Happy Birthday Dave Varty! Suffice it to say that it is due to his passion, hard work and lifelong dedication to conservation that Londolozi is what it is today. Dave has continued to oversee the growth of Londolozi since its inception in the 70's right up to its relaunch as a family-run, stand-alone venture in 2007. Wishing you the most wonderful day.

The Londolozi New Year’s Eve party has become somewhat of an institution. "In the heat of an African morning that you can only understand if you have visited us in early December, my heart was incredibly full as I watched not only our very own Londolozi Family members take their seats among the Bridging Year Academy (BYA) graduates of 2022, but the sheer number of graduates who had made it to this point, despite challenging circumstances." #londolozi #relaischateaux #africa #southafrica #safari #luxurysafari #travel #travelgram #education #gwf @relaischateaux

We've created some printable gift tags highlighting the beautiful gifts from nature that pass us by - which are so often not noticed. Print out the tags onto card board paper (make sure to print double sided to ensure they have a back to them), cut them out, and finally punch out a whole to thread through a ribbon or some twine.
The Londolozi Family celebrates one of our originals today. We’d like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Shan Varty, who has dedicated 49 years to the never-ending campfire story that is Londolozi. Smiling, she starts to say, “ I like knowing that when I arrived I knew nothing, and now I've become the teacher.”
For many the 'Feeling' of Londolozi comes from the people. Some of whom you may have had the opportunity to meet, and others you may not have just yet, but either way have had a lasting impact on every detail that is the Londolozi Feeling. #africa #southafrica #safari #luxurysafari #travel #travelgram #wanderlust #adventure #instatravel #explore #vacation #nature #beautifuldestinations #travelphotography #safarilodge #lanterns #honeymoontravel
"So there I was in the middle of the pandemic, clocking in 60+ hours a week from my home office when I decided it was time to give my boss a call. Given the working from home situation, it was no surprise that my news came out of the left field when I said, “I will be handing in my resignation this evening... We have decided we want to move to the bush and become game rangers.” #londolozi #thelondolozieffect #relais #relaischateaux

Guides and Trackers ~ The Power of Relationships “It’s a pretty intense concoction of factors that create intense relationships in the field team. Day in and day out, trackers and guides spend countless hours together. Planning and taking game drives, tracking wildlife while exposed to the elements. Hours spent looking after guests together, who have travelled across the planet to connect with nature and feel what it is like to spend time in the presence of Africa’s magnificent creatures.
The Legacy Of Guiding & Tracking at Londolozi There is an incredible beauty in being connected to people you have never met. The moment you qualify as a Londolozi guide or tracker, without even realising it, you become tied to those who came before you. Even though decades may separate your respective times in the team, you now share a connection that I believe is born from reverence.
