The tones highlight the movement of the model as well as the important line of events. Different shades of sticky back is used to differentiate the different levels of planes. Dark grey is for higher planes while light grey is for lower ones. Red lines represent important stick movement that creates a path parallel to the story/model. And black lines are supportive sticks that are not essential but represent some background story.
