Etourneau sansonnet - Estornell comú - Estornino pinto - Common Starling - (Sturnus vulgaris) Its native range is temperate Europe & western Asia, but in 1890 Eugene Schieffelin released 100 starlings in NY Central Park, wanting to introduce all the birds mentioned in William Shakespeare plays to North America. Today, an estimated 200 million of these invasive, aggressive birds disrupt native species & airplanes, & cause millions in agricultural losses per year.
