The leafy seadragon or Glauert& seadragon, Phycodurus eques, is a marine fish in the family Syngnathidae, which also includes the seahorses. It is the only member of the genus Phycodurus.

Found along the western coast of Australia, the Leafy Sea Dragon gets its name from–you guessed it–its leaf-like appearance that acts as perfect camouflage on the sea bed. In spite of this, though, these up-to ten inches long creatures are threatened daily. Humans collect them as pets and for use in alternative medicines and they make an easy prey. While they are not endangered yet, they are protected by the Federal Government of Australia.
