Add A Water Feature to Your Garden
How-To-Do-It.... No matter if your garden is big or small, having a fountain can transform an ordinary space into an extraordinary one. Whether it’s large with lots of jets, or small with just a trickle, a fountain makes a strong focal point. Depending on the particular fountain, the sound effects can be soothing or exciting.
Antiques De Provence
A truly beautiful store located in New Orleans is Antiques De Provence on Royal Street in the French Quarter. It is set in a wonderful brick home complete with lovely lanterns and shutters in the palest tones of French Blue. The beautiful olive jars are from the 17th through the 19th century. The interior features fantastic plastered walls and a spectacular staircase. I wasn’t sure what to look at first~ the beautiful fanlight over the doorway, the linen covered chairs or the gorgeous…
Suzanne Crane Ceramic Artist | Artful Home
Growing up in a family of bird-watchers and botanists, Suzanne Crane watched her mother collect, identify, and press rare prairie plant specimens. She loved the abstract patterns that resulted. Today, Crane gathers plants on the wooded slopes and creek sides of the Blue Ridge Mountains, then presses them into her ceramic pieces. In addition to drawing inspiration from nature, Crane is influenced as much by chaos theory and fractal geometry as the Arts and Crafts Movement. All of Crane's…

The Retro Decorator - 1967 Living Room
Another tumblr find this time, and while admittedly dated, there are a few things to pick out about this room, namely the lovely wood coffee table, the exposed stonework and the classic, simple lines of the furniture. via With orange on the catwalks and blues in the home, I could even transport the throw and the cushions to the modern day. I'd probably ditch the mustard rug though.
Wood Paneling: The 60s Favorite Is Back
I’m not the first to observe that style is cyclical. Something that was once popular will, if given enough time, almost always circle back into favor again. The house that I grew up in, circa 1985, had a living room covered in (we thought) really terrible wood paneling. When my family moved when I was 10, I was sad to leave the house, but not sad to leave behind that wood paneling. The whole room was just so…brown.
The Vintage Home #15: 1965 Interiors
Herein are scans from the book Interior Decoration A to Z (1965). I could chat on endlessly about how amazing these are, but I'll let the images speak for themselves. Suffice it to say, my eyeballs hurt from the bursts of color and each picture reminds me of a groovier version of my grandparents' house. Of course, if this were my grandparents' house it would be covered in plastic. I don't know if grandparents still do this, but once upon a time you could count on senior citizens covering…
