Could our trends make a political and economic statement?
Our fashion history has shown us the moods of our society. Way back In the 1920's they were into extravagant things had corsets, drop hemlines and fitting garments. The great depression struck America which caused made fashion just be one word ''PRACTICAL''. Woman began to wear scrap fabric and the children had no choice but to wear hand me downs. History repeats itself. We are in economic depression the word ''PRACTICAL'' fashion becomes a trend. People are shopping at thrift stores just to…
President of Gabon El Hadj Omar (born Bernard-Albert) Bongo Ondimba and his third wife Edith Lucie Bongo Ondimba (who was also the daughter of Congo-Brazzaville's President/dictator Denis Sassou-Nguessou) celebrate his last election victory in 2005. They both died in 2009, he having been head of state since 1967 and among the closest allies of former colonial power, France. Note: it is tacky -- at least in my opinion -- to wear a commemorative print of yourself.
Beautiful Black British race goer, Genie Williams of West Midlands, on Ladies Day, Royal Ascot, 2013. Sister can wear the Union Jack flag attire! What a hat!

One of the talks at the 39th Annual Liberian Studies Association conference in March 2007 at Indiana University, Bloomington featured photographs from the Inauguration of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf by James Weegi. Mr. Weegi's presentation file is huge and takes a few moments to download. It's well worth the wait! The fashions on Inauguration Day - January 16, 2006 - were fantastic! Mr. Weegi captured photographs of women wearing dresses made from fabrics featuring the new president. I…
