A smorgasboard of old stone houses - ~ House Crazy ~

There’s something so enchanting about an old stone house. They are all over the place, and since they are made of stone, they seem to last forever. I profiled The Old Stone House in my own hometown not too long ago (you can see that post here). The name “The Old Stone House” is so commonly used for historic homes made …

Moral decay...... Image taken at a country cemetery abandoned church in Coshocton County Ohio. I don’t know when this church was built, the oldest stones in the cemetery are from the late 1840’s. All of the pews are still present in the building as is a piano. The floor has caved in several places though from the roof leaking, and some of the fixtures are no longer in very good shape. .

Ohio House

I glimpsed this towered Victorian house from nearby Rt 6 and made my way around the block to check it out. I was able to track down the owner who let me take some pictures and gave me a little history. It was purchased by Victor and Minnie Orwig in 1903 and was occupied until the mid Nineties. The original slate roof is beginning to fail, endangering the upstairs ceilings. An unusual farmhouse for this turn of the century Ohio farming community.
