In the City: Wedding Venues

This board is a collection of largely urban wedding venues in Johannesburg, Rosebank, and Sandton -- with the exception of Rovos Rail and Cullinan venues due to their historic merit. Most of these venues alternative venues for non-traditional brides looking for city views and an industrial edge. Please remember that when going to the linked websites that South African businesses are not well developed internet users and as such many site are difficult to navigate and have poor images.
De Hoek is located in the Magaliesburg Mountains outside the city. I listed it here because my folks like it. Its a well respected hotel with a number of beautiful locations on its grounds, it also has some amazing food. I'd recommend looking them up on google images as they don't have a full gallery on their website.

Munro Boutique Hotel Johannesburg is another victorian gem hidden in the city. It has a number of venues including this 3 story conservatory. The hotel does have interesting function rooms and even more interesting mural painted across sculptured ceilings. loads of character and drama.Its web page is truly awful for such a magnificent venue.

Morrells is one of those places in Johannesburg trying to capture tuscany or provance . Morrells is a beauty amongst these rather bawdy counterparts. The few new buildings Morells has constructed are cased in stone and ivy, and furnished with a late edwardian flair. The new buildings already have the proper aged look. Unfortunately it it is on a busy road opposite a school, noise and traffic can be a problem.

Hazeldene Hall sometimes called "the View" or the Transvaal Regimental Headquarters is one of the oldest buildings in Johannesburg. The problem with this venue is that its missing. This is a photo from a blog in 2011. The web links no longer work, neither do the phone numbers. It might still be Regimental HQ but if it is the Transvaal Scots aren't answering the phone.

Turbine Hall is my favorite space of the Forums. This image doesn't give the scale or the variation in venue types available in this Newtown gem. Note that not all of its spaces are private and you might have some thourgh far during your wedding. venues range from 20 seated guest to 250 seated

The Forums' "the Campus" building has many venues but none as impressive as their triple volume space with enough area to seat 400 guests comfortably. They do have more intimate venues at this location.

THE FORUM is a company that runs come of the most exquisite venues in the greater Johannesburg area. They range from the monumental architecture of industrialization to the infinitely delicate glass house. Some of its venues will be on the linked board but they have too many to easily list. The Forum also acts as a wedding planning and catering company. I'd highly recommend reading their convoluted contract before getting into bed with them.

JanHarmsgat se Agterplaas is another venue is the Victorian town of Cullinan outside Pretoria. This venue is trading on a barn wedding twee. Usually venues like this try too hard to be eclectic. This barn venue reaches its chosen style effortlessly. Unfortunately its webpage is cluttered and all its linkable images are on pinterest rather then an on the site. Toadbury Hall is a hotel venue with large surrounding gardens, including a chapel, forest walk, lake side scenery and rolling green lawns. They provide a number on indoor and outdoor locations for both ceremony and reception. while it looks like a very country venue it is actually along Beyers Naude Drive, Johannesburg. this is a full service venue
