Our Prayers for the Sick are not in Vain

If we err in our benevolence (and we almost certainly will from time to time), as George Saunders so eloquently put it, let’s err in the direction of kindness.

When the mother eagle teaches her young to fly, she pushes them over the edge of their comfort zone (the nest) and as the little one flutters downward from initial shock, she swoops under him with her wings and he soars on her wings. She patiently repeats the process until the eaglet learns to soar on his own. When we wait on The Lord we will soar on wings like eagles (Isaiah 40:31). We will not grow weary. We will not faint because He carries us.

Isaiah but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
