.Luitenant-Kolonel Jan Breytenbach was die stigter en eerste bevelvoerder van 1-Verkenningsregiment (1-Recce) - voorloper van die huidige Spesiale Magte Brigade van die SANW en die Suid-Afrikaanse gelyke van die Britse SAS (Special Air Service). Hy is ook die stigter van 32-Bataljon, ook bekend as "Buffalo Battalion". Hy is die broer van die digter Breyten Breytenbach.

Vandag, 100 jaar gelede, is Fourie weens hoogverraad ter dood veroordeel. Hy was die enigste deelnemer aan dié rebellie wat op hierdie wyse die hoogste prys betaal het, skryf J.B. ROUX
