a large cathedral with tall towers and two trees in the foreground, against a blue sky

The York minster in one of the most impressive (by its height) cathedral I have ever seen. I stitched this photo with perspective corrections etc... using Hugin from two photos. It is impossible (at least for me), because of all the buildings around the minster, to get the full façade in one shot. You can see a group of people on the right hand side that will give you an idea of the size of the building. Best viewed Large See where the photo was taken at maps.yuan.cc/.

a large stained glass window in the middle of a building

The stunning Great West Window at York Minster, North Yorkshire. It is nicknamed the 'Heart of Yorkshire' due to the heart shape formed by the tracery near the top of the window. It was inserted in the 1330’s when a radical rethink of the design of the western facade was put into effect. Master Mason Ivo de Raghton was responsible for the stonework and tracery of the window. The overall glazing scheme was designed to reflect the hierarchy and legitimacy of the medieval Church.
