I've started making little Shoofly blocks that finish at 4.5 inches. I'm using little waste triangles for the corners, 2 inch scraps for the center and solid bits and pieces for the backgrounds. I've been working very hard to use up my bags, bins and boxes of scraps the last few years and next year will be the year of waste triangles for me. (I hope). Ta da ... I am finished! Made with French General fabrics (more then one line) and using the Moonlight pattern by Gerri Robinson, from her book A Cut Above. Quilted by Vicki Jenkin. Do you like the narrrowrance of reds and creams in this quilt? I made it almost exclusively with reds and creams from several collections of French General for Moda. On the Cream side I didn't have enough variety so i added some Japanese taupe creams to round it out. The blocks were made with log cabin paper piecing templates from Felicia's World. In The Red quilt pattern from Christine Vlasic The quilt measures 88 x 88 inches (225 x 235 cms), it was handpieced and hand quilted The octagon shapes are joined using 5 different shades of red randomly chosen throughout the quilt or In another version the fabric for the squares is just a light bland colour and the fabrics chosen for the octagons are pretties Either way this looks lovely
